Opis proponowanego produktu
Autor takich publikacji jak: Supermodernism, Architecture in the Age of Globalization czy The New Tradition.
European Architecture Since 1890 to jedna z najważniejszych publikacji, która ukazała sie w 2011 roku. Ksiażka składa sie z 4 rozdziałów tematycznych (Architecture and City, State and society, Connections and parallels, History and historiography) i 4 chronologicznych (Until 1914, 1917- 1939, 1945-1989, After 1989) . Ibelings stawia zasadnicze pytanie - czy istnieje cos takiego jak europejska architektura i - jeśli tak - to jak, gdzie i dlaczego taki rodzaj architektury powstaje.

Opis dystrybutora:
This richly illustrated work provides a survey of the main developments in European architecture from the end of the nineteenth century to the present. It is the first architecture history that pays considerable attention to the architecture of Central and Eastern Europe. During the era of the Iron Curtain, developments in Eastern Europe were hidden from the eyes of Western Europe. But despite this division, it is still possible to speak of a genuinely ‘European’ architecture.

European Architecture since 1890
---
Genuinely European
Histories of European and Western architecture of the twentieth century have always placed great emphasis on the architecture of Western Europe. During the era of the Iron Curtain, developments in Eastern Europe were hidden from the eyes of West Europeans. But in spite of this division, it is still possible to speak of a genuinely ‘European’ architecture.
Giving form to developments in society
A specific European architecture has developed from the end of the nineteenth century, when the cities of Europe began to grow explosively. It is characteristic that in designing their buildings, architects have always tried to give form to the developments that were taking place in society: Deconstructivist buildings like the Guggenheim in Bilbao to give expression to today’s confusing and uncertain society; sturdy Communist buildings as a model for the toiling workers of the time; and elegant, simple Bauhaus buildings for a healthy living environment for all.
